At the weekend, Greek artist Giannis Gogos released his latest album Ambedo as part of Whitelabrecs’ digital-only eRecords series. Composed of two extended Ambient pieces, the album unfolds slowly, inviting patient, open and unhurried listening. It has been great to catch up with Giannis, who released his Whitelabrecs debut 'Linger' back in 2024.
To compliment the music, Giannis has shared a series of photographs that mirror the spirit of the record. These images don’t illustrate the album so much as breathe alongside it, capturing fleeting moments of stillness, light, and quiet attention - visual reflections of the same state of mind that Ambedo inhabits.
In the text below, Giannis writes about the meaning of the word ambedo and how it shaped the album’s intent. He reflects on silence, slowness and presence in a world that rarely allows space for any of the three, offering a thoughtful meditation on listening as an act of care rather than consumption.
Taken together, the words, images and music form a gentle invitation: to slow perception down, to linger, and to rediscover the expressive weight of quiet moments.

AMBEDO

My latest album is called Ambedo. It’s an Ambient work made of two long-form tracks, each stretching over twenty minutes. Minimal in structure, slow in movement, and intentionally spacious, the album is less about progression and more about presence.
The word ambedo describes a state of quiet absorption - the kind of attention where you’re fully immersed in a simple moment: light passing through a window, distant sounds, the feeling of time softening. It’s not loud focus, not urgency, not stimulation. It’s meaningful silence.
That idea sits at the core of this album.
We live in a world that runs fast and speaks loudly. Everything asks for instant reaction, instant output, instant opinion. Sound is compressed, images scroll endlessly, and even art is often expected to explain itself quickly. In that environment, silence becomes almost radical. Slowness feels like resistance.
Ambedo doesn’t try to compete with noise.
It doesn’t rush toward a climax or demand attention. Instead, it creates space — for listening without multitasking, for letting sound exist without instruction. The long duration of each track is deliberate. Time is not something to conquer here, but something to enter.
This is music meant to be inhabited rather than consumed.
The silences, the sustained tones, the gradual shifts are not gaps to be filled; they are part of the language. In Ambient music especially, silence is not the absence of content — it’s the frame that allows meaning to appear. Without it, sound becomes decoration. With it, sound becomes presence.
Ambedo is an invitation to slow your perception down.
To sit with sound without asking where it’s going.
To let stillness become expressive again.
In a culture that celebrates speed and volume, choosing quiet is a form of care — for the listener, and for the work itself. This album exists in that space: between sound and silence, between movement and rest, between attention and letting go.
If you give it time, it will give you space back
