In this week's blog post, there's another radio show to sink into as I return to my quarterly Vervine show. These go a bit deeper than the monthly shows we do for CAMP Radio or Brewing Folk, as they're not only two hours long but they also push the genre boundaries much much wider.

To recap for those new to the show, Vervine started out in 2022 born out of my wide and varied taste in music and reputation as a crate digger. I wanted to create shows that share my eclectic taste, beyond Ambient music, and in a similar vein to John Peel or my DJ hero Gilles Peterson. The name Vervine takes the word 'verve' (meaning flavour) and 'ine' at the end, meaning 'of' something - so this series essentially means 'of flavour'. I hope the sounds and cultures you'll hear gets this sense of unpredictability across.

In this episode, I do go on quite an Ambient trip however, as there's some really great stuff out right now. We recently launched a new review site on Substack called Wall Of Ambient and this has meant, there's been even more music to listen to and enjoy - particularly of the Ambient variety. But if within these shows you happen to like how I branch off from Ambient music, rest assured there are plenty of records leaning more to Jazz, Folk and everything in between. Not to mention, some music from Whitelabrecs which includes a premiere of two new editions lined up for August.

The cover for this show was captured on Ferragudo beach in the Algarve, in Portugal back in May - the beach overlooks the city of Portimão and there was lots of wooden debris washed up to shore. When looking for photos to use for this show, this seemed apt - as these fragments were likely from different sources but somehow, they all sat together quite nicely against a backdrop of sand. I felt this was quite a nice visual for this mix, as all of these different sounds hopefully fit together in this latest show.
