Clariloops 5 Albums For Cold Mornings

5 Albums For Cold Mornings by Clariloops

September 29, 20255 min read

From time to time, this blog will feature guest contributions and often, they come about through our community - the Inner Echo. For this week's blog post Ruby Ester Mae who records as Clariloops responded to the call - coming up with a concept of five albums for cold mornings.

Ruby is based in Melbourne, Australia and the header image above was taken on a family holiday in Gippsland. Bright images such as this suggest warmth, but mornings can be cold this time of year as the sun battles with the low temperature. This is the perfect condition for this set of five albums, as Ruby selects a range of quality Modern Classical, Jazz and Electronica influenced Ambient records.

Read on below to check out Ruby's thoughts on each of her selections, take a listen and read a little more about the album from the edited press information.

"It’s very cold in Melbourne at the moment, we’re having a bit of an 'arctic blast' or whatever the weather folks call it. So, here are 5 albums for cold mornings." ▪️Ruby Esther Mae (Clariloops)

"Everything these two musicians put out sounds to me like comfort. A warming cup of a tea, a hug after a long day. You can hear how comfortable the artists are with each other as they recorded this. Jazz inspired electronica to fill your cup!"

Svaneborg Kardyb, the award-winning Danish duo of Nikolaj Svaneborg (Wurlitzer, Juno, piano) and Jonas Kardyb (drums, percussion), craft a sound that beautifully weaves together Scandinavian jazz, Danish folk traditions and subtle electronic textures, drawing inspiration from artists such as Nils Frahm, Esbjörn Svennson and Jan Johansson. Their music balances delicate minimalism, melodic richness, and organic interplay, radiating the joy of collaboration. Following their Gondwana Records debut Over Tage, Superkilen takes its name from a park in Copenhagen’s diverse Nørrebro district which is a symbol of community, unity and transformation.

"When I first heard this release I instantly thought ‘why did I not hear this sooner!?’ - this is another one of my all time favourite releases to be enjoyed over a warming meal on a cold day"

Clouds was the debut Gaussian Curve album, a spontaneous collaboration between Italian Ambient pioneer Gigi Masin, Jonny Nash and Marco Sterk. Recorded over a single weekend in central Amsterdam in spring 2014, the album’s eight tracks emerged entirely from intuitive, improvised live sessions, with no preconceived plans. Masin’s Rhodes and piano, Nash’s guitar, melodica, synths and trumpet and Sterk’s synths, rhythms and production coalesce into a delicate and heartfelt sound that captures both the warmth of the season and the atmosphere of its surroundings.

Scattered Light - Unfurl

"Beauty in asynchronisity. Each time I listen to this album it seems to open up my awareness to the world. I love the undulating textures and the organic unfolding of each sound. I listen to a few tracks of this most nights when putting my son to bed, it makes me think of snuggling under a doona."

Scattered Light’s 2025 album Unfurl on We All Speak In Poems is a serene exploration of solitude in nature, capturing not fear or disorientation, but the deep peace of being fully immersed in the wilderness. Across eight expansive tracks and nearly an hour of Ambient music, this record evokes the flow of streams, quiet fields and the vast beauty of forests and cliffs. Built from reel-to-reel recordings, granular synths and layered instrumentation, Unfurl paints intimate Ambient landscapes that feel like rediscovered fragments of an old broadcast station.

Patricia Wolf - Hrafnamynd

"With lots of icy synth choices, this album sounds to me like cold, still air. The type that makes the end of your cheeks and nose pink."

Hrafnamynd is an album released on Balmat records by Portland-based composer Patricia and it is her first film soundtrack. The score accompanies Edward Pack Davee’s feature-length documentary of the same name, which blends film and digital formats, 1970s Ektachrome slides and themes of Icelandic childhood, folklore and ravens - including one named Krummi. Long-time friends and collaborators, Wolf and Pack had previously worked together on music videos, making her a natural choice for the soundtrack. Created primarily on the UDO Super 6 synthesizer, with occasional guitar and field recordings, the album’s 11 tracks continue Wolf’s atmospheric and melodic style while exploring new directions shaped by the film’s imagery and narrative.

"Another beautiful release from this Ondes Martenot artist. Josh’s music evokes lush forest landscapes touched by a cold breeze to me. I find the melodies on this album are profoundly moving."

An album of original Ambient music works for ondes Martenot, piano and electronics. The ondes Martenot is an early electronic instrument played either with a lateral-vibrato keyboard or moving a ring which is tied to a wire. The sound created is a haunting, floating melodic tone similar to a theremin. 'Trust', a single from this album, was premiered on BBC Radio 6 in Elizabeth Alker's 'Unclassified' show. Inspired chiefly by meditations on the environment and humanity’s relationship with it, the album comprises 9 pieces of instrumental music which relies heavily on texture.
