One Far West is a solo project of John Wilkins. As part of Austin, Texas, duo FiRES WERE SHOT, Wilkins has performed with such acts as Brian McBride (Stars of the Lid), Windy and Carl, thisquietarmy, and many more. He’s released records on labels including Holodeck Records, Asphodel, Ltd., Puremagnetik, and Whitelabrecs (as Many Pretty Blooms), and has his own imprint cassette and digital label, It’s Only Me Records.

His debut album for Whitelabrecs was released in 2022 as part of the eRecords series and entitled 'Bow and Clatter'. This was under the aforementioned Many Pretty Blooms project name with critical acclaim including a detailed interview with the 8sided blog a review on No Transmission and various pieces of radio coverage.

This followed with 'Heliacal Risings' in 2024, another eRecord and this time as One Far West.
