Luis Miehlich's 'Re-Cartographies' Takes You on a Half-Asleep Concert Experience
Today we can unveil Luis Miehlich's latest album 'Re-Cartographies' which follows his previous work for Whitelabrecs, 'Timecuts' (2019) and 'Home Diaries 030: Field' (2020). Hailing from Heidelberg, Germany, Luis takes us on a unique musical journey influenced by his experiences studying music design in the picturesque town of Trossingen.
Built upon a three-step process, 'Re-Cartographies' begins with sketches performed by an ensemble of fellow students. These recordings were then transformed through granular synthesis, rearranging, and looping, all giving birth to these mesmerising ambient pieces. The 'Cartographies' pieces, picking up where he left off with his Home Diaries project, explore the concept of slowing down time, adding long silences to the ethereal soundscape.
Adding a visual element, 'Re-Cartographies' features 'Small Score' tracks based on Luis' daily watercolour sketches, providing a unique freedom to the interpreting musicians. The resulting music, captured during the preparation for the 'half-asleep concert' in Trossingen, blends intimate chamber music with expansive ambient spaces, creating an immersive experience that feels both dreamlike and focused, at the same time.
Don't miss the chance to own a piece of this sonic exploration – 'Re-Cartographies' is available for purchase in a limited run of 100 gatefold vinyl-effect CDrs and in various high-quality digital formats.
