About Adrian Lane:

Hailing from Southend-on-sea in Essex, UK, Adrian Lane is not only a skilled musician but also a visual artist. With a musical journey spanning over a decade, he has collaborated with renowned labels like Preserved Sound, Hibernate, Oscarson, Chitra, and, of course, Whitelabrecs. With 14 albums to date, plus a few self-releases, Adrian has established himself as one of the prominent figures in the modern classical and ambient music scenes.

Musical Process and Influences:

Adrian Lane's music is a testament to his unique creative process. Working primarily from the comfort of his home studio, he combines acoustic instruments with synths and virtual elements. His broad musical influences cover modern and contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Johan Johannson, Hildur Gudnadottir, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. But his own sound also draws in his fondness for world music and the wider ambient and modern classical scenes.

Live Performances and collaborations:

Though live performances are rare , Adrian’s solo acts involve a laptop and live playing, providing a rich, layered experience. His musical journey began in 2013 with the release of his first album under his own name on the Preserved Sound label. Last year, he collaborated with Glacis, producing an album under both their names, with another project in the works.

Unravelling 'Vignettes':

Vignettes was crafted with meticulous attention, featuring a blend of real and virtual piano and strings, recorded using Abelton Live. The creative process alternates between piano-focused compositions and string quartet-based tracks, showcasing a seamless interplay of instruments.

Drawing inspiration from the concept of a vignette—a brief, evocative description, account, or episode—each track unfolds as a standalone moment. With pieces ranging from 1 ½ to 4 minutes, Lane skilfully weaves stories and moods, occasionally drawing inspiration from haiku poems, ensuring a captivating and succinct musical experience.
