Biography

Harry Towell is a composer and sound artist from Lincolnshire, UK and owner of the Whitelabrecs label. Harry started making Ambient and Drone music in 2007 and initially released music through the netlabel scene. His debut physical release came out on the now defunct label Under The Spire in 2010 followed by 'Voyage' the following year on Hibernate Recordings. His music under this alias has seen releases on labels such as Time Released Sound, Lost Tribe Sound, Home Normal and Fluid Audio/Facture and he has also collaborated with artists including Sven Laux, Guy Gelem, Ekca Liena and Josco.

Harry began to record under his own name which will likely become his main alias when making music, after becoming more familiar in the Ambient music scene due to the fact that he runs the Whitelabrecs label. Harry is a music enthusiast first and foremost, taking in sounds across multiple genres and building end of year lists which he has been publishing since 2010. He also runs an occasional show on Mixcloud called 'Vervine' where he introduces Whitelabrecs material, as well as records from various styles.

Harry's approach to production focuses on acoustic instruments, field recordings and more recently, MIDI keyboard, on which he uses several sound libraries to create modern classical textures and electronic sound beds. He is deeply influenced by his local surroundings, the Lincolnshire fens and this often gives a rural aesthetic to his work.
