A New Arrival!

On the 25th of September we’re proud to announce the birth of our beautiful baby daughter Isla!

In the run up to the birth, Harry created a relaxing Ambient mix as he and his wife had looked into ‘hypnobirthing‘ during antenatal classes. The mix includes plenty of warm, relaxing material from Whitelabrecs as well as works from the likes of Taylor Deupree, Ghost and Tape and Sven Laux. It was blended using harmonic mixing techniques in Traktor 2 to create a continuous, flowing listening experience.

Whitelabrecs Box Set Volume 2

We’ve managed another 20 releases since our last box set, so we thought we’d prepare ‘volume 2’ following our last set which covered releases 1-20.
This new box set starts at re-issuing a ‘whitelabel vinyl’ effect version of our Whitelabsounds compilation and includes all catalog numbers until WLR040, which is Daliah’s Holy Mountain.

Also included are some out of print items, from artists such as Sven Laux, Steve Pacheco, The Prairie Lines and Slow Heart Music.

We’re committed not to re-press any albums as we want to keep things small and collectable but for those looking to either preserve the collection or play ‘catch-up’ if you’ve only recently discovered us, we think it’d be nice to make things available as a box set.

The package itself is simple and ‘DIY‘, very much like each of the CDr releases we put out with a card board box being the perfect size to comfortably house the 20 discs. The boxes are hand-stamped in an ink colour of your choosing and the vinyl-style CDrs will be contained with a polaroid of the cover artwork and inside card sleeves. Again, you can choose the colour of the sleeves.
You’ll be contacted following your purchase and we’ll consult on your options and then we’ll order the materials, burn the discs and deliver to you securely!

Out now! WLR025 Steve Pacheco – The 4th

Next up on Whitelabrecs we welcome Steve Pacheco to the catalog who some of you may recognise for his excellent album ‘Constellate‘, recently released on Belgian imprint Dauw. Steve is based in Los Angeles but this album is about memories and loss following him leaving his former residence in Santa Fe for a new job opportunity back in LA. The material in ‘The 4th‘ is some of our most ‘Ambient‘ work since the likes of Russell Glynn or Dave Kirby. This one may appeal to those who like Taylor Deupree, The Humble Bee or Twincities.

“Steve Pacheco is an artist born and raised in Los Angeles, California who had spent a period of three years in Santa Fe, New Mexico from 2012 to 2015 before returning to LA. From an early age Steve could be seen carrying a red transistor radio set to a classical station and this lo-fi sound has stayed with him into his adult life. His debut album Constellate was released this year on Belgian label Dauw and like many of their releases, it has sold out.

Steve had actually agreed to release his first album ‘The 4th’ with Whitelabrecs however a change in schedule at Dauw meant that Constellate was moved from its scheduled release in fall 2017 meaning it became his debut.
Typically, Steve’s sound begins life as a simple melody or loop typically created using guitar, piano, kalimba, xylophone or other acoustic sources. These are then processed until a texture or drone is achieved and then stored to a library of sound. In the next stage, Steve will then look to assemble these loops and carve out different frequencies from them into a track and this process can take quite a long time. For an extreme example, the final track on this album ‘Completion’ was first drafted in 2010 as Steve does not set out to create something specific – he strives to work until something ‘reveals itself’ so the process is as much down to chance and persistence than anything else.

The 4th is an album themed around cherished memories, loss and letting go as each track is deeply connected to memories he experienced during his time in Sante Fe. The first three tracks are set in Santa Fe whereas the final piece ‘Completion’ is a reference to Steve’s return to Los Angeles for a new job opportunity. The title of the album is a reference to the Chakra system, with the fourth of these being the heart. Whilst the deeply personal events and circumstances that inspired the work within this album may not translate to you the listener, it is intended that the material will inspire memories and feelings dear to you as the warm textures will envelope you.”

Next on Whitelabrecs we welcome Los Angeles, USA based artist Steve Pacheco, fresh from his recent release ‘Constellate‘ on the excellent Dauw imprint. The 4th is an album that is perhaps some of the purest Ambient material we’ve put out since Dave Kirby or Russell Glynn back in 2016, with its lush drones. This one might be something those who like Taylor Deupree, Twincities or The Humble Bee will enjoy. You can listen to a preview of the album by using the Soundcloud player below or keep a check on our Facebook or Instagram pages to preview the packaging when we share it.
