Coming soon…Logic Moon – I See Planets

The show must go on and we’re over mid-way through our busy schedule for 2019. Next we’re back in Germany as we welcome Mainz based artist Tobias Lorsbach who records as Logic MoonI See Planets is a deep and dense Ambient/Drone album created using guitar and retro synths and it features the collage artwork of Thomas Easton. This will be available in 2019’s signature gatefold-LP style CD, in a run of 100 copies with packaging design arranged by the artists themselves. We’ll release this officially on or around the 13th of July 2019. This has plenty of detail so should not be viewed as a pure drone album and it should appeal to those who follow artists such as Truthiscolor, Hotel Neon or Tone Color.

“Logic Moon is Tobias Lorsbach, an artist from Mainz, Germany. His previous releases have appeared on labels such as Archives, Archipel and his own spontanMusik imprint across all physical and digital formats. He spent many years in the minimal techno scenes since the early 2000s and whilst out on a field recording excursion, he fell upon the idea of layering some Ambient drones. From here, his debut album as Logic Moon was born, Herbst11.

Tobias’ musical background has drawn in a widescreen of genres with him having performed guitar in a death metal band, embarked on a DJ career and now as an Ambient musician. His varied experiences have only served to give birth to a range of ideas which are evident in his latest album ‘I See Planets’, clocking in at just over an hour.
Compositions typically start life as a sketch on guitar before synth and additional components were added to build an environment.

Retro-futurism is the over-arching concept to I See Planets, something which Tobias does not map out for you the listener to read so you’re clear. Instead, this bewildering atmosphere is a heady journey that requires the time and space for it to unfold carefully.
The title track opens proceedings over 8 minutes, taking its time to wash over science fiction tales from the 70s. ‘Somnia’ follows, hinting of a drowsy night’s gaze into the black sky above as you imagine all kinds of stars, galaxies and planets. Fleeting moments of warmth are interspersed with themes of artificial intelligence, comprehension of time and darkness.

We’ve teamed up with Thomas Easton for the artwork, who produces retro-futuristic collages. We discovered his work through Instagram and we’re pleased to find a work of art which truly encapsulates the tales of I See Planets.”

Out now! WLR012 Colbets – Come To The Surface

We’ve just moved house and we’re already up online and ready to crack on releasing some of the wonderful demos that are building up.

Next up we welcome a duo from Japan called Colbets, who some may be familiar with their recent work on now defunct Australian label Twice Removed. ‘Come To The Surface’ is a set of 5 mid-length synth and guitar led Ambient drones that will appeal to fans of Darkroom, Twine and Colbets’ compatriot Shaula. It’s available now on Whitelabrecs in a very low run of just 50 CDrs.

“Colbets is a duo from Tokyo, Japan consisting of Saitoh Tomohiro and Kari Takemoto. They have previously released music on labels such as Twice Removed, Twisted Treeline, U-Cover and Vent in a project that began in 2011.
Saitoh also records solo electronic material as Shreber Harber Mole Flying Wheel whilst Kari is a guitarist; together they produce dense and hazy linear drones.

Come To The Surface was composed as the soundtrack to an imaginary nostalgic movie, designed to evoke thoughts of flickering, grainy film imagery. The entire album is an immersive listen from start to finish, designed with Brian Eno’s original description of Ambient music in mind: to be neither foreground nor background. There is a weight and power to the contemplative sound palette that will pull you into thoughts of nostalgia as you try to recall abandoned memories to the surface of your mind.
