Whitelabrecs Box Set Volume 2

We’ve managed another 20 releases since our last box set, so we thought we’d prepare ‘volume 2’ following our last set which covered releases 1-20.
This new box set starts at re-issuing a ‘whitelabel vinyl’ effect version of our Whitelabsounds compilation and includes all catalog numbers until WLR040, which is Daliah’s Holy Mountain.

Also included are some out of print items, from artists such as Sven Laux, Steve Pacheco, The Prairie Lines and Slow Heart Music.

We’re committed not to re-press any albums as we want to keep things small and collectable but for those looking to either preserve the collection or play ‘catch-up’ if you’ve only recently discovered us, we think it’d be nice to make things available as a box set.

The package itself is simple and ‘DIY‘, very much like each of the CDr releases we put out with a card board box being the perfect size to comfortably house the 20 discs. The boxes are hand-stamped in an ink colour of your choosing and the vinyl-style CDrs will be contained with a polaroid of the cover artwork and inside card sleeves. Again, you can choose the colour of the sleeves.
You’ll be contacted following your purchase and we’ll consult on your options and then we’ll order the materials, burn the discs and deliver to you securely!

You can visit our dedicated page on the Whitelabrecs Bandcamp site where an order can be placed by clicking below or HERE

Out Now! Robert Farrugia – Almost There

Today we’re pleased to add Malta based artist Robert Farrugia to our label’s roster. Robert’s work may be familiar to those who follow labels such as Archives or Assembly Field and in ‘Almost There‘ we’ve a beautiful set of dreamy synth/piano sequences that will appeal to anyone who enjoys Stars of the Lid, Hammock or Good Weather For An Air Strike. Robert is a classically trained pianist and his album for Whitelabrecs provides a soothing backdrop of modern-classical tinged Ambience with a hint of Shoegaze.

You can listen to a preview of the album by using the Soundcloud player below or grab one of the remaining copies by clicking the bandcamp player or link below.

This went to out to our mailing list last weekend and at time of writing, we’ve got just 16 copies left! To find out, you can click the link below or on the image above to listen. To avoid missing out on future releases, you can join our mailing list HERE

press release

“Robert Farrugia is a composer from Malta who has released through labels such as Assembly Field, Post Global Recordings, Batenim and more recently Spanish imprint Archives. Robert is a classically trained pianist although his earlier work saw him produce experimental guitar-based music before returning to focus more on piano recordings in 2013.
Citing Ólafur Arnalds, Stars of the Lid and Taylor Deupree as his major influences, Robert’s work usually starts off with small motifs which are layered with a largely improvisational approach.

Robert has also performed live many times alongside artists such as Jimmy Bartolo, Joseph Wilkins, Timothy Garrett & Cosmicomics and he has also collaborated with Roman Willi, Warmth and SineRider. He’s also a member of Eyes To Argus, an atmospheric/shoegaze band who have recently released an album entitled ‘VEER’ in October 2017.

‘Almost There’ is an Ambient record with droning synth/piano texture in a similar vein to the aforementioned Stars of the Lid as well as Hammock and is a record that Robert quotes as being his first serious attempt at recording a full length album. It was recorded during the examination period of his first year at University and he used it as a means of breaking away from his hectic routine, over the course of 3 weeks. The contents of the record are soothing yet dramatic as they map out a relaxing space that pauses all of life’s challenges into microscopic slow motion frames. Almost There gives a sense of being on the brink of achievement and as the finish line comes into focus, moments of reflection and triumph overflow.
