Out Now! Pruski – Playground

Onto the second of our two new additions to the catalog, we welcome back Pruski who some will recall provided the fifth instalment of our Home Diaries series. Paweł Pruski is based in Krakow, Poland and has been keeping busy with online streaming performances, notably Edu Comelles’ Ruido Virico show. ‘Playground‘ was next in line when we had to halt the catalog and we’re pleased to be able to release this journey into the early years of human existence, as we encounter the magic of the world around us for the first time. The subtly varied ambient drones and field recordings reflect various scenes of discovery. The packaging features photography by Bartosz Szadurski along with a white border to frame it and olive green information panels. Inside the inner card sleeve is a white vinyl-effect disc.

Our low-run releases will be made available suddenly without official release dates, meaning they’re likely to sell out fast. The best way to keep informed is to join our mailing list which can be located through our website menu or you can click HERE

press release

“Paweł Pruski is an artist from Krakow, Poland who has previously had vinyl albums released under the name of Minoo and more recently, Ambient albums as Pruski. One such was a contribution at the beginning of our Home Diaries series after we had postponed the release of his album ‘Playground’. His work pushes and extends the boundaries of Ambient and Drone music and he also performs as a live act in events and festivals around the world.

Playground is a journey into a child’s world. A world without sophisticated sentences, complicated relationships or conventions. Here, the most important things are gestures, curiosity and surprise. It is discovering what is around, fascinated by nature. It is an attempt to look from the side back to the beginning of our journey in this world. What was it like to be surprised by the colour of the leaves, rain, and the ticking of the clock? For this is a journey to a place where the tree is the whole world, and a small meadow can be the whole cosmos.”

Coming soon…Pruski – Playground

It’s time for us to breathe a big sigh of relief, as at last we are able to announce a return to our release schedule of our signature vinyl-effect CDrs. Before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, we already had a full 2020 planned and were excited to unveil the exciting artists we planned to work with. We’ve had just over 3 months of pause now, after the closure of our local post office meant we were unable to ship orders. So we launched the digital-only Home Diaries series and have curated 30 EPs, short and long albums. Some fantastic records that have kept us insanely busy.

With barely any time to draw breath between Home Diaries and the re-emergence of our CD catalog, we’re pretty sure we’re on track to release everything as planned this year with a few changes. We think all the changes we’ll make will be for the good of everyone involved, for our artists, our supporters and well, us. Firstly, we are now taking physical orders to be shipped from a local village post-office who are open from 5:30am. They’ll do a drop-off service for us, which means we’ll only be at the premises for a matter of minutes. So we’re confident our relaunch is safe and the right thing to do, as we had been concerned about regular visits to the post office and the queues of people we’d create.

Secondly, we’ll scrap our pre-orders. When we launched, we had 50 CDs of each release to sell and we thought creating a subscriber mailing list would be the fairest way to ensure that our regulars would be able to have a strong chance of getting a copy of an album before they sold out. Since we increased the run-count to 100, we’ve found that albums practically never sell out in days, so we feel there’s enough time for everyone to check out our new records. Of course, if things change this will review it as we value those who collect everything!

Finally, we will be releasing the albums two at a time. This is our way to make up for lost time but also, there’s the added bonus for those who plan to buy both albums in one go, as an extra copy will not increase the shipping cost and we don’t charge for a second item.

Onto the second of our two new additions to the catalog, we welcome back Pruski who some will recall provided the fifth instalment of our Home Diaries series. The album will be released on Saturday the 27th of June with no pre-order. If you join our mailing list using the link below, we’ll make sure you’re the first to hear.

Home Diaries 005: Pruski

We’ve taken a pause from our schedule of CD albums due to our local post office closing, following the outbreak of Covid19. We launched a digital series called Home Diaries, in which we’ll release EPs and albums by an international line-up of artists, with the music created during lockdown and social distancing conditions.

The series reflects a range of sounds, styles and ideas, as each artist portrays their own reflections uniquely. Each release is digital only for now, as we hope to raise what we can to help keep our label ticking over at this time. The releases feature a recurring polaroid image of a small lonely house, with a coloured filter chosen by the artist for each respective release.

Next we have an artist who was actually going to release a CD with us later this year. Fingers crossed that this can still happen but in the meantime, Pruski has created a longform piece called I Need Space, which is a building drone of modular synth sounds, field recordings and the subtlest of lo-fi undertones.

We have an exciting line-up to follow and each release will include bonus PDF liner notes, which has an interview with the artist on how they made the album, what their situation is like, what they have planned, their influences and what equipment/techniques they used.  There are also additional photos provided by the artist as part of the PDF too. press release
“Home Diaries is an invitation to artists and musicians to create an album or EP to document their personal experience during the lockdown or social distancing conditions that are upon us, due to the coronavirus outbreak. We interview each artist and this is included as a bonus PDF with the download. You can also check out the Home Diaries series on Spotify if you prefer, which will be available to stream in due course.

Our series continues, as we are joined by Krakow, Poland based artist Pruski who has previously released music through the Four Tapes Records label. We had already planned to release an album from this artist later this year, named ‘Playground’ and when we broke the news of a delay in our schedule, he embraced the Home Diaries theme and put together a beautiful longform drone.

I Need Space helped provide somewhere for Pruski to carve out a place, in which to channel the uncertainty of the situation, with restful modular synth tones underpinned with gentle field recordings. The sound of nature becomes a comforting backdrop for the mind, as the sounds of tired, failing computers are not powerful enough to break this thoroughly tranquil peace setting.”
