press release
“Pruski is a Polish electronic artist, also known for producing music under the name of Minoo. Previous albums have appeared on labels including Asfalt, Mad-Hop and Post Label, as well as ‘Whisper’ and ‘Playground’ featuring within our Whitelabrecs discography. Active since 2007, Paweł Pruski has also performed live at festivals such as Freedom Festival, Tauron Nowa Muzyka and WRO with visits to several countries including Germany, Italy and China. In recent times, he has recorded under his surname, focusing on the more experimental variants of electronic music to express his ideas in an ambient and electro-acoustic aesthetic.

‘Moments of Immersion’ is Pruski’s sixth album. The album is a development of earlier ambient experiments and techniques and there is a balance of three elements: field recordings, processed tape sounds and modular synthesizer. The title of the album alludes to the immersion in several moments. It is not a reflection of some space or time but rather, of experienced moments. Interpretation of subjective experiences from which individual elements have been removed, leaves only a hazy outline of a background. It is a development of the main idea of ambient, in which the music harmonises with a specific space. In this case, the space is changed with the feelings of the moment, for whoever is listening.

Out Now! Pruski – Whispers

We’re returning to deep, sleepy drone music for the summer as we welcome back Krakow, Poland based artist Pruski who released a Home Diaries contribution and a CD release ‘Playground’ with us in 2020.

Whispers‘ is an album containing 6 minimalist ambient drones, created using a modular synthesizer and inspired by walks in woodland, away from the noise of a vibrant city.

Whitelabrecs low-run releases are likely to sell out fast. The best way to keep informed is to join our mailing list which can be located through our website menu or you can click HERE

press release
“In 2020 we released both the physical album ‘Playground’ and Home Diaries piece ‘I Need Space’, from Krakow, Poland based artist Pruski. Aside from these releases, other material has been made available through labels such as Four Tapes and KrysaliSound.

Pruski’s background has been informed by nineties electronica including much of the legendary Warp catalog and it’s from here that he became very interested in the technical side of making music himself. This is both in terms of hardware but also, functional processes and mathematics. His current taste in quiet music has been informed by labels such as 12k , Japanese ambience and many of his peers within the ambient community.

Returning to our catalog, Pruski has created ‘Whispers’, a series of organic drones created using an OP-1 modular synthesiser which has been a key source of experimentation, discovery and evaluation for several years. Part of the production process fell during lockdown, in which there were limitations on travel and human interaction. On the other hand, Pruski started walking a lot in the forests around him, allowing him to listen and connect with nature; he would encounter the rustle of leaves that began to resemble whispers. It was from here that he had the idea of nature’s constant whisper, evident all around us, if we choose to listen. Each track represents a whisper from the natural world, which combine as a whole to be a metaphysical journey.

Home Diaries 005: Pruski

We’ve taken a pause from our schedule of CD albums due to our local post office closing, following the outbreak of Covid19. We launched a digital series called Home Diaries, in which we’ll release EPs and albums by an international line-up of artists, with the music created during lockdown and social distancing conditions.

The series reflects a range of sounds, styles and ideas, as each artist portrays their own reflections uniquely. Each release is digital only for now, as we hope to raise what we can to help keep our label ticking over at this time. The releases feature a recurring polaroid image of a small lonely house, with a coloured filter chosen by the artist for each respective release.

Next we have an artist who was actually going to release a CD with us later this year. Fingers crossed that this can still happen but in the meantime, Pruski has created a longform piece called I Need Space, which is a building drone of modular synth sounds, field recordings and the subtlest of lo-fi undertones.

We have an exciting line-up to follow and each release will include bonus PDF liner notes, which has an interview with the artist on how they made the album, what their situation is like, what they have planned, their influences and what equipment/techniques they used.  There are also additional photos provided by the artist as part of the PDF too. press release
“Home Diaries is an invitation to artists and musicians to create an album or EP to document their personal experience during the lockdown or social distancing conditions that are upon us, due to the coronavirus outbreak. We interview each artist and this is included as a bonus PDF with the download. You can also check out the Home Diaries series on Spotify if you prefer, which will be available to stream in due course.

Our series continues, as we are joined by Krakow, Poland based artist Pruski who has previously released music through the Four Tapes Records label. We had already planned to release an album from this artist later this year, named ‘Playground’ and when we broke the news of a delay in our schedule, he embraced the Home Diaries theme and put together a beautiful longform drone.

I Need Space helped provide somewhere for Pruski to carve out a place, in which to channel the uncertainty of the situation, with restful modular synth tones underpinned with gentle field recordings. The sound of nature becomes a comforting backdrop for the mind, as the sounds of tired, failing computers are not powerful enough to break this thoroughly tranquil peace setting.”
