We’ve taken a pause from our schedule of CD albums due to our local post office closing, following the outbreak of Covid19. We launched a digital series called Home Diaries, in which we’ll release EPs and albums by an international line-up of artists, with the music created during lockdown and social distancing conditions.
The series reflects a range of sounds, styles and ideas, as each artist portrays their own reflections uniquely. Each release is digital only for now, as we hope to raise what we can to help keep our label ticking over at this time. The releases feature a recurring polaroid image of a small lonely house, with a coloured filter chosen by the artist for each respective release.
In our next release, we welcome Berlin composer/musician Felix Gebhard as a separate project named Brusgenerator. Felix has released with our former labels Tessellate and Audio Gourmet, as well as Analogpath and Sleep Lab Library. We’ve always seen his sound as warm and organic, but this one’s brooding and electronic, as guitars and synths are fed through various pedals. The work was originally intended for a theatre production which got cancelled due to the virus outbreak, so Felix spent his time in lockdown working on this material from his 5th floor apartment.
We have an exciting line-up to follow and each release will include bonus PDF liner notes, which has an interview with the artist on how they made the album, what their situation is like, what they have planned, their influences and what equipment/techniques they used. For our next edition in this series, we welcome Berlin’s Felix Gebhard who for this album recorded as Brusgenerator. We worked with Felix a few years back with releases on both Tessellate and the Audio Gourmet netlabel and he’s also released with labels such as Analogpath, Sleep Lab Library and Hangover Central Station. Our experience of Felix’s sound has generally been warm, organic guitar and field recordings. For this side project, he has adopted the guise of Brusgenerator and turns in a dense and brooding album of electronic Ambience.
This body of work was originally conceived as a theatre soundtrack, but due to the Covid 19 outbreak, the show was cancelled, meaning it sat incomplete. Felix was keen to work on this from his 5th floor apartment, as not to discard these creations. The extra time to focus on these recordings enabled him to develop these without a deadline and we’re delighted to release this set of 8 recordings, which have retained their story-telling qualities from the originally intended theatre performance. Albeit, these stories have become about home cooking, sights from the balcony and watching movies, all told from the comfort of a 5th floor apartment.”
